Neighborhood Info

Sackville

Lower Sackville is located just beyond Bedford, and is generally also considered a suburb of Halifax, although it too, is quite self sustaining.  Housing in Sackville is generally very affordable, although typically older than you will find in many parts of Bedford and Bedford South.  Sackville still has townhomes and Semi-detached homes available under the $150k mark, and its homes are rarely priced higher than $250k.

There is a lot of commercial activity in Lower Sackville as well.  There are a number of big box stores, including Kent, Canadian Tire, Wal-Mart etc.  Almost all of Sackville’s commercial component is conveniently located along Sackville drive, which runs from Bedford right through to Upper Sackville and beyond.

There is a large military & RCMP presence in Sackville, which brings young families with it.  One of the newer and more popular subdivisions in Sackville demonstrates this demographic trend - Millwood.  Comprised of semi-detached and smaller single family homes, the price range in this area is clearly designed to draw first time home buyers.

Middle and Upper Sackville feature different housing types, and generally larger lots.  Situated around a number of lakes, including First Lake & Springfield Lake, housing values can be slightly higher than Lower Sackville, although there is much more driving to do to get anywhere.
