Neighborhood Info

Fall River & Waverley

One of the “sleepy bedroom” communities just outside of Halifax is the Fall River / Waverly area, which is focused around a number of lakes, including Lake Fletcher, Lake Thomas and Third Lake.  The village of Waverley is comprised of a great deal of older housing, almost all of which takes advantage of stunning lake views that are quintessentially Canadian.

Fall River has become one of the most popular and trendy areas for families in all of HRM.  The three main neighbourhoods are all comprised of newer housing than you will find in Waverley, and they include Schwartzwold - the oldest of the three, featuring lovely homes,  with large lots and mature trees, St. Andrews Village - which is still seeing a great deal of new construction and features a very high end housing (ranging up to values of $1.4 million), and Fall River Village - perhaps the most popular because of the quality of its housing, and its municipal water source.

Fall River has a small commercial component, which is limited primarily to the Sobey’s Plaza at the corner of Hwy 2 and Fall River Rd.

Finally, Fall River is known for having one of the best school systems in the entire HRM, which is a testament not only to the teachers in the system, but also the students who make up the population.
