Neighborhood Info

Clayton Park

One of the biggest developments outside of Haliax, and one that was originally intended to be a suburb of the Downtonw region, has seemed to become its own little city recently, with the addition of Clayton Park West, and the forthcoming additions of the Mount Royal Subdivision as well. Clayton Park, name after one of the regions biggest developers, has a definitive mix of old and new housing.

"Old Clayton Park" is comprised of single family homes, semi-detached homes, and rental apartments, and is slightly closer to the city than the new part of Clayton Park. Homes in this area typically range from 30-50 years old, and feature a wonderful blend of Maritime architecture, from traditional Cape Cod Style, right through to what we call contemporary homes. Prices range widely in this area as well, from townhouses starting in the $140k range right through to large, single family homes which can stretch up as high as $500k. One of the concerns that has always plagued the old part of Clayton Park has been access - which has in the past meant travelling the very busy Bedford Highway, but today is relieved by the easy access to Dunbrack Street and the use of the Bicentennial Highway. Additionally, with the emergence of Bayer's Lake, it is no longer necessary to travel into Halifax to do shopping - everything is now available on the doorstep of this subdivision.

The new part of Clayton Park, Clayton Park West and the Regency Area, features a number of condo developments, in addition to the single family and semi-detached home styles. With housing typically under the 15-year old mark at this point, this area is one that offers one of the best mixes of new housing and convenience to downtown Haliax. Although there have been many conds built here in the last few years, the area also retains a number of quite expensive executive style homes, and prices have therefore developed quite a range from entry level, around $130k, up through to quite expensive, touching $500k in some cases.
