Bedford
Bedford
is a Large, suburban town located just North West of Halifax, and is an
integral part of the HRM. Often thought of as one of the upscale areas
of the region, Bedford housing ranges from townhomes that begin in the
$200,000 range, right up through waterfront homes on the Bedford basin
that can be priced as high as $2,000,000. Two of the most well known
and thought of subdivisions in the area are Eaglewood and Ridgevale Subdivisions.
Both are comprised of older homes, mature trees and wonderful families.
Nottingham street has become another popular area for young families looking
to locate themselves in Bedford, as has the area in both Basinview and
Moirs Mills.
There are a number of Condo developments in Bedford, including those at
Nelson’s Landing, Summer Cove, Brookshire Mews and Lake Dr. These condo
units are quite varied in price, with the main attraction often being
a view of the Bedford Basin.
Bedford is home to a great commercial center, including the original Pete’s
Frootique (wonderful fresh fruit and more!), Sunnyside mall and Bedford
Place Mall. Although it seems like a suburb of Halifax, Bedford is well
equipped as a city of its own!
Fast Facts:
Driving Distance: Bedford’s Access to Halifax is via either the Bedford Highway (along the basin), or by Highway 102. 15 minutes at least to the West end, and 25 minutes to downtown. Dartmouth is also easy to get to, via the “Magazine hill”, and it is less than 15 minutes from Burnside Business Park.
